Meet the Artist Behind the Madness: A Closer Look at Twocatsandpossum
MY ART INSPIRATION
First of all, since childhood, I really love the vibrant colors and genres of cartoons, comics, and whimsical art.
I LOVE food and cooking, so you can see a lot of food-inspiring art and characters here.
It all makes me feel alive.
I love mysticism and everything related to the world of spirits.
But, unlike other people, I see something whimsical in every scary folklore character.
I see a riddle and fairy tale in the middle of the dark, and many of my original art pieces are directly influenced by these riddles.
I enjoy biking and hiking in my spare time in nature. In addition, I love recreating southern plants and wildlife in my work.
My main character Eddie the voodoo doll, lives a fun life in the wilds of New Orleans swamps.
Also, as a New Orleans artist, I love the voodoo aesthetic, and with the help of Eddie, I want to show how spirits and nature are related to each other and how they quietly live next to us.
MY ARTIST’S BACKGROUND
I was born and raised in Russia and moved to New York to be able to live legally with my wife and do my whimsical art and writing work.
Since childhood, I have dreamed of drawing for a living, but in my past life in Russia, I didn't have the opportunity to express myself this way.
And now, when you, my wife, and my friends support me, I work to achieve my goal of being a full-time silly artist non-stop. I love to bring smiles to your homes.
MY ART MEDIUMS
I use many mediums, such as clay, acrylics, markers, and watercolors.
I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my silly artistic process. Each idea manifests in its art style.
For example, since Louisiana does not recycle waste, I bought used cardboard coasters from my local bars and restaurants and gave them a new life as original art.
All materials are suitable for creating unique home decor or art. Not just museum-quality canvases and super-expensive brushes and paints.
As a pop surreal, silly artist, I believe in a person who controls mediums in their hands and draws with the help of everything that can be useful. This is how ART comes to life.
